Ian serves as President and Portfolio Manager of Tortoise with primary responsibility for all strategic investment decisions and portfolio construction. Ian graduated from Yale University, where he majored in Economics and Political Science and worked for the Yale Investment Office. He received his law degree from Cornell Law School, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, and clerked for a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Prior to entering the investment management business, Ian practiced law for 10 years, first at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and then as a federal public defender. Since Ian founded Tortoise, its assets under management have grown to approximately $380 million. |
